UPDATE!! Again this year during hunting season, The Checkcord will host our "Reader's Bird Dog Photo Gallery". If you would be so kind as to email me your favorite hunting picture featuring your favorite bird dog(s), you and/or family and friends along with some a little information on the dog and whoever or whatever else is in the picture, I'll post them weekly here on The Checkcord beginning October 1, 2004.  Here's a pic of my Dog Sophie taken back opening day 1997. She was just over 2 years old. She pointed all but one of the birds. She flush one and one of the hunting partners of mine got excited and shot the bird. Of course, being still fairly young and in training didn't hold point and flushed the next few birds. I pointed that out to the one hunting partners on why you only shoot bird she holds point on. It took us a few more hours after that to get our limit. It was a good hunting day in eastern Washington.  This is "Maggie", Huntley's Magic of Trefoil, at eight weeks on her first quail. She held steady and if you look really closely you will see a feather on her nose. She is now a little over a year old and has completed her AKC Junior Hunter title. This will be her first season hunting with her owner Jim. |
 This is my dog, "Freck" (that's Armbrust's Cactus Freckles MH, to you!) Freck passed in 2003. She was my best friend and she humbled me every time I put her on the ground. She was so much more than just a bird dog. I miss her very much. You can read about her in the pages of The Checkcord. |
